*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
People: Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
Leader: Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.
People: For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all Gods. For all the gods of the people are idols, but the Lord
made the heavens.
Leader: Let us worship God, who creates, redeems and sustains us. Amen.
- Psalm 96:1-5
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 483 Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of holiness, our sin is before us. We know that we have not lived up to our
baptism. We have not forsaken all the competing claims for our loyalty. We have
lingered in doubt and fear and allowed them to shape who we are, rather than
taking our identity from your eternal grace. In short, we have sinned.
But we know that you do not want sin to define us. Rather, you call us to be
defined by your eternal love. So, forgive us, we pray, and remake and renew us.
Fashion from our clay, servants who give glory to you, for the sake of our Lord
Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
People: I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Leader: So believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! -Romans 8:35, 38-39
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 464)
All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain, call us to rejoice in Thee.

*THE HYMN 391 Take My Life
*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in
Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from
the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God
the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and
the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion
of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and
the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory, forever. Amen.
