THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, you are the good master. You alone can do exceedingly abundantly more than that we could ever ask or imagine. To you alone belong all glory and honor in the church forevermore. And yet, too often we praise you as though you are commonplace and ordinary. Too often we fail to register your goodness and mercy. And far too often, we are mute where good words might make all the difference. Forgive our willingness to worship feebly. Forgive our ability to settle for less than the God that you are. Open our lips that we may sing your praise. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: “So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, out inner nature is being renewed, day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
People: Because we look not at what can be seen, but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”
Leader: Friends, believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

To God the Father, God the Son, and Holy Spirit, three in one, may every tongue and nation raise an endless song of thankful praise.

THE ANTHEM Shall We Gather at the River arr. John Carter
Shall we gather at the river, where bright angel feet have trod; with its crystal tide forever flowing by the throne of God? Yes, we’ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river, gather with the saints at the river, that flows by the throne of God. Ere we reach the shining river, lay we ev’ry burden down; grace our spirits will deliver, and provide a robe and crown. Yes, we’ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river, gather with the saints at the river, that flows by the throne of God. Deep river, my home is over Jordan deep river, I want to cross over into campground. Soon we’ll reach the shining river, soon our pilgrimage will cease; soon our happy hearts will quiver with the melody of peace. Yes, we’ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river, gather with the saints at the river, that flows by the throne of God.
