THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, you made us to be your people—to trust you, to love you, to follow you and to share your love with others; to enjoy you forever. We struggle with this. At times we forget that you are with us. We get busy and tired, we worry and stress and strive; we take things into our own hands and we hold on for dear life. We over schedule and over extend until there is little left of us to share with you or with those who are suffering. Forgive us for not fully trusting, O God. We need your help to break our addictions: to substances, to busyness, to fear and worry, and to competition with our peers. Teach us to pray. Help us to pause...breath… and gather at your waters enjoying to your love together.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: “Even now,” declared the LORD, “return to me with your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments.
People: Return to the LORD your God, for God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.
Leader: Believe the Good News of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Hallelujah! Amen! -Joel 2:12-13

THE ANTHEM The Call of Wisdom Will Todd
Lord of wisdom, Lord of truth, Lord of justice, Lord of mercy; walk beside us down the years till we see you in your glory. Striving to attain the heights, turning in a new direction, entering a lonely place, welcoming a friend or stranger. I am here, I am with you, I have called: do you hear me? I am here, I am with you. Silver is of passing worth, gold is not of constant value, jewels sparkle for a while; what you long for is not lasting. Rulers govern under me with my insight and my wisdom. Those who know me know my love; those who seek me find their answer. God the Father and the Son, Holy Spirit co-eternal. Glory be ascribed to you, now and to the end of ages. I am here, I am with you. (Based on Proverbs 8)
