11 A.M. WORSHIP
THE GATHERING Lucy Grant
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
THE PRELUDE Come Down, O Love Divine arr. Charles Callahan
*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: I know that the Lord is great; our Lord is above all gods.
People: Whatever the Lord pleases, God does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.
Leader: God it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth; God makes lightning for the rain and brings out the wind from God’s storehouses.
People: We have come to worship God: our creator, redeemer and sustainer.
Amen.
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 129 Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us EBENEZER
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, we have turned our eyes from your goodness. Where you have been exceedingly gracious to us, we have seen hardness. Where you have acted on our behalf, we see instead coincidence. Where our prayers were not answered to our satisfaction, we assume indifference. Our hearts are hardened to the mystery of your presence among us. Forgive us we pray, and open our eyes to all of your blessings. Make us aware of the gracious benefits you have given us, and always, keep us in your care. It is in the name of Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: I appeal to you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
People: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God-what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! -Romans 12:1-2
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 326)
Teach me to love Thee as Thine angels love, one holy passion filling all my frame; the baptism of the heav’n descended Dove, my heart an altar, and Thy love the flame.

Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me the understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall keep it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein is my desire. Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. O ’stablish thy word in thy servant, that I may fear thee. Amen. (Psalm 119:33-39a)

THE APOSTLES’ CREED Drew Stockstill
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead, I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PASTORAL PRAYER AND THE LORDS PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
