WORSHIP JUNE 26 2016
11 A.M. WORSHIP
THE GATHERING Drew Stockstill
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
THE PRELUDE “Holy, Holy, Holy” arr. Marilynn Ham
Derek Matthews, piano
*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord; praise be the name of the Lord.
People: Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time on and forever more. From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
Leader: The Lord is high above all nations, and God’s glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
People: God raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people. The Lord gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord.
Leader: Let us worship God, our creator, redeemer and sustainer. Amen. -Psalm 113
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 476 O Worship the King, All Glorious Above! LYONS
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, you are the good master. You alone can do exceedingly abundantly more than that we could ever ask or imagine. To you alone belong all glory and honor in the church forevermore. And you call us to follow you. Too often we fail to register the goodness and mercy implicit in that calling. And far too often, we are mute where good words might make all the difference. Forgive the ease with which we turn aside for other plans. Forgive our ability to settle for less than the calling that you have laid before us. Open our lips that we may sing forth your praise. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound?
People: By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it?
Leader: Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
People: Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Leader: Believe the promise of the gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Romans 6:1-4
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn No. 478)
Praise Him for His grace and favor to His people in distress; praise Him, still the same as ever, slow to chide, and swift to bless; Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorious in His faithfulness.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead, I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PASTORAL PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
