THE PRELUDE Prelude on ST. COLUMBA Harold Friedell
*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come into his presence with singing.
People: Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his, we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Leader: Enter God’s gates with thanksgiving, and God’s courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.
People: For the Lord is good, his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Leader: Let us worship the triune God, who creates redeems and sustains us. -Psalm 100
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 171 The King of Love My Shepherd ST. COLUMBA
Stanzas 1 and 2
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
*THE SUNG CONFESSION ST. COLUMBA
Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me. And on his shoulder gently laid, and home, rejoicing, brought me.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: God so loved the world that he sent his only son, so that whoever believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.
People: Indeed, God sent the son not into the world that the world might be condemned but so that the world through him might be saved.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -John 3:16-17
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE ST. COLUMBA
In death’s dark vale I fear no ill with thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me.
*THE PEACE OF CHRIST
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
People: And also with you.

THE FIRST LESSON Isaiah 5:1-7 (page 596, in the pew Bible, OT)
THE ANTHEM My Jesus, I Love Thee arr. Paul Sjolund
My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine; for thee all the follies of sin I resign; my gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ’tis now. I love thee because thou hast first loved me, and purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree. I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus ’tis now. In mansions of glory and endless delight I’ll ever adore thee in heaven so bright; I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now. (text: William R. Featherston)

*THE HYMN The King of Love My Shepherd Is ST. COLUMBA
Thou spread'st a table in my sight; Thy unction grace bestoweth; And O what transport of delight from Thy pure chalice floweth!
And so through all the length of days Thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise within Thy house forever.
*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and dead, I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PASTORAL PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Fairest Lord Jesus Garth Edmondson
