11 A.M. WORSHIP
THE GATHERING Bill Humphries
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
THE PRELUDE How Firm a Foundation arr. Michael Burkhardt
*A SPOKEN CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
People: Sing to the Lord, bless God’s name; tell of God’s salvation from day to day.
Leader: Declare God’s glory among the nations, God’s marvelous works among all the peoples.
People: For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; God is to be revered above all Gods. For all the gods of the people are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.
Leader: Let us worship God, who creates, redeems and sustains us. Amen.
–Psalm 96:1-5
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 288 I Sing the Mighty Power of God ELLACOMBE
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, you created the earth and all that lives with amazing creativity and in great joy. You gave us abundant life and you filled us with your love. You asked us to boldly share that love and to joyfully praise and worship you with our whole hearts. You placed no bounds on our joyful expressions of praise, empowering us with your Spirit of creativity to give you glory. Yet, we confess we seldom worship you with unbounded praise. We are often timid in our lives of worship. We often hold back our own creativity. Forgive us, God, and help us to worship you more fully in our lives. To God be the glory for all that has been done for us in Jesus Christ. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: My fellow children of God, do not fear:
People: Our God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
Leader: Therefore, believe the good news of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Romans 8:16,15
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Hymn 341
This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.
*THE PEACE OF CHRIST
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
People: And also with you.
THE CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH

THE EPISTLE LESSON Ephesians 3:14-21 (page 182 in the pew Bible, NT)
THE ANTHEM For the Beauty of the Earth John Rutter
For the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies; Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise. For the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night, hill and vale and tree and flower, sun and moon and stars of light: Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise. For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child, friends on earth, and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild: Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise. For each perfect gift of thine to our race so freely given, graces human and divine, flowers of earth and buds of heaven: Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise. (text: F. S. Pierpoint 1835-1917)
THE HYMN SING
During worship today, we will join in a 15-20 minute hymn sing. We will sing selected verses from hymns that you choose-either from the Presbyterian Hymnal or from the choices listed in the bulletin in-sert. This process assures that our organist can have the music readily available and that the congregation has access to the words. An index of titles can be found in the back of your pew hymnal. Have your hymn number/title ready and raise your hand!
*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing arr. Michael Burkhardt
