Leader: I declare that your steadfast love is established forever;
People: your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, we confess there are times when faith is not easy. There are times when the claim of the Gospel upon our lives is costly. There are times when we would turn aside onto an easier path rather than face what your promises would elicit from us. Forgive us when in our living we fail to do and be what you have called for from us. Forgive us when we cannot remember that it is you who have carried us through the years. And in forgiving us, give us encouragement that we may be strengthened in our faith and live out the calling you have given us. We pray all these things in Jesus’ name and for his sake. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has passed away; the new has come.
People: All this is from God, who reconciled himself to us through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
Leader: That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, We are forgiven! -2 Corinthians 5:17-19
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Hymn 356
O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be! Let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee; prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.
*THE PEACE OF CHRIST
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
People: And also with you.

THE ANTHEM Hymn of Praise René Clausen
Alleluia! Praise God in his holy temple, in the firmament of his power. Alleluia! Praise God in his mighty majesty, and with pure and humble heart. Praise him with the sound of the ram’s horn, praise him with lyre and harp, lute and melody. Praise him with timbrel and the dance, praise him with harp, strings, and violin, lute, and trumpet, all to his name. Let everything that has life and breath sing praise unto the Lord! With cymbal and pipe, with shining stars we sing hosanna; for thou hast been our dwelling place from one generation to another before the mountains were brought forth, or ever the earth formed, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Amen. (texts: Psalm 90 and 150)

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PASTORAL PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
