THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, we know that we have sinned. We could catalogue the misdeeds and ill thoughts we have indulged but what good would it do? You know what we have done and what we have left undone. You know as well that we stand in need of grace. Forgive us, we pray, for the sins that we have committed and the sin with which we live. Give us comfort in the knowledge that your grace is greater than anything we could ever do, and that nothing, indeed, nothing, will separate us from your love made known in Jesus Christ. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come,
People: No powers, not height, not depth, nor anything else in all creation,
All: Will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
-Romans 8:38-39
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 555)
O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us; and keep us in God’s grace, and guide us when perplexed, and free us from all ills in this world and the next.

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory,
