THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, you have called us. You have called us to a way of life set apart from the ordinary. You have called us to be “a light to the nations.” You have called us to grateful generosity, to faithful discipleship, to holy living. Yet in our sin, we do not live out our calling. Our reasons are manifold but we cannot and need not name them all; you know our faults. Yet in faith, we ask that you would forgive us once more, and re-mind us of our holy calling, that we might show forth the light of the one who has called us out of darkness, our Lord Jesus Christ, in whose name we make our prayer, Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will bring us with you into his presence.
People: Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -2 Corinthians 4:14-15
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 426)
O use me, Lord, use even me, just as thou wilt, and when, and where; Until thy blessed face I see, thy rest, thy joy, thy glory share.
