*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Seek God; know God; trust God, O people.
People: Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
Leader: Declare God’s deeds among the people, for the needy are remembered, the poor have hope.
People: Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
- Psalm 9
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 288 I Sing the Mighty Power of God ELLACOMBE
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Most merciful God, forgive us. We imagine that we can live without you, when you give us our very breath. We seek control over others rather than strive to live in unity. We allow fear to overtake us, even though our lives are in your hands. Draw us back into your steadfast love and shape us into the likeness of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Hear the good news! Christ died for us. Christ rose for us. Christ reigns in power for us. Christ prays for us.
People: Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun.
Leader: Believe the good news of the gospel.
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
- Romans 8:34; 2 Corinthians 5:17
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 379)
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness: I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.
*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
People: And also with you.

THE ANTHEM I Will Lift Mine Eyes Jake Runestad
I will lift mine eyes unto the hills. From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper, the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not harm you by day nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this day forth, forevermore. -text: Psalm 121

*THE HYMN 303 Jesus, Lover of My Soul ABERYSTWHYTH
*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
