10 A.M. WORSHIP
THE GATHERING
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
THE PRELUDE Introduction to “Joshua” George F. Handel
*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
One: How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts!
Many: My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the LORD;
One: My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
Many: Let us worship God. - Psalm 84
*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 207 How Lovely, Lord MERLE’S TUNE
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of our redemption, we confess that we have not been faithful servants. We have not served you with sincere hearts nor trusted in your promise of salvation. We have turned away from you, living God, and have chosen to follow idols of our times, spurred by our fears, our own self-interest, power and wealth. Forgive us our sins, O God. Lead us to heartful repentance that we may honor you with our words, our deeds, serving you with our whole being. Through Christ our Savior. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Many: No powers, not height, not depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
One: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
Many: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - Romans 8:38-39
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 181)
You change my grief to joy-filled dance, my sorrows you destroy. In faithfulness you hear my cry and fill my life with joy. And so to you my heart shall sing, my voice your goodness raise. You are my God, forevermore, my life shall sing your praise.
*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
People: And also with you.

THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON Joshua 24:1-2a, 14-18 (page 205 in the pew Bible, OT)
THE ANTHEM God Is Seen Alice Parker
Through all the world below God is seen all around, search hills and valleys through, there he’s found. The growing of the corn, the lily and the thorn, the pleasant and forlorn, all declare God is there, in meadows dressed in green, God is seen. See springing waters rise, fountains flow, rivers run, the mist that veils the sky hides the sun. Then down the rain doth pour, the ocean, it doth roar and beat upon the shore, and all praise, in their ways, the God who n’er declines his designs. The sun with all his rays speaks of God as he flies the comet in her blaze ’God,’ she cries; the singing of the stars, the moon when she appears, his holy name declares; see them fly through the sky, and join the solemn sound all around.

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
