THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious Creator, You have given us so much,
but too often we take those gifts for granted,
or as something to which we are entitled.
You call us to live in caring community,
but too often we place our wants and needs first.
You call us to share Your gifts with the world around us,
but we are worried that there may not be enough,
and our worrying gets in the way of our sharing.
Creator God, forgive our moments of ingratitude.
For all the times we assume that we get what we have by ourselves,
forgive us and lead us back to the path of wisdom. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Our God does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is the Creator’s steadfast love.
As far as the east is from the west, so far God has removed our transgressions from us.
We are forgiven. Live as a people at peace.
People: Thanks be to God. -Psalm 103
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 421)
For Christ alone, whose blood was shed, can cure the fever in our blood,
And teach us how to share our bread and feed the starving multitude.
*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
People: And also with you.

THE ANTHEM For the Beauty of the Earth John Rutter
For the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
For the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale and tree and flower, sun and moon and stars of light:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
For each perfect gift of Thine to all people freely given,
Graces human and divine, flowers of earth and buds of heaven:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise. -F. S. Pierpoint

*THE HYMN 421 The Church of Christ in Every Age WAREHAM
*THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit,
we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel,
whom alone we worship and serve.
In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah
chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth.
Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child,
like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still.
In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage
to pray without ceasing, to witness among all people to Christ as Lord and Savior,
to unmask idolatries in church and culture,
to hear the voices of peoples long silenced,
and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.
In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit,
we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives,
even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth,
praying, Come, Lord Jesus! - “A Brief Statement of Faith,” PC(USA), Book of Confessions
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
