PEACEMAKING OFFERING
This Sunday, we will receive the Peacemaking Offering being mindful of those in our communities - near and far - who are in need of God's healing and reconciling peace. This offering is one of our special collections that MPC receives each year. Twenty-five percent of the offering goes to peacemaking efforts locally, 25 percent to regional peacemaking efforts and 50 percent enables the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program to be active throughout the world. Please use the envelopes in the Sunday bulletin and/or indicate "Peacemaking" in the memo line of your check.
RHO BOOK SALE
You can help support literacy among immigrant students at The Global Village School in Decatur and The Fugees Academy in Clarkston by donating your used books to our RHO Readers group for their annual sale in Fellowship Hall, which will begin
October 5, and by picking up some low-priced new reads during the sale. You can drop off your hardbacks, paperbacks, children's books and audio literature in the Session Room.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
This Sunday, October 5, Morningside members - and their animals - are invited to gather on the lawn at 5 p.m. for a special service in which we give thanks to God for all of creation. Blessing of the Animals is our opportunity to express our love for our pets and to give thanks to God for them. This short service welcomes all - as is our custom - but we do ask that all pets are appropriately restrained by leash or carrier. Please join in giving thanks to God!
OUR HOUSE
The Our House mission is to break the chain of homelessness by providing early childhood education and comprehensive support services for families experiencing homelessness. From
October 1 through October 31 we will collect gently used or new items for the Mitten Tree to benefit the children of Our House (mittens, gloves, hats, etc.). Place your donations on the tree outside of Room 107. We will also collect Halloween costumes - ages infant-5 years. See the Preschool Halloween Board for specific needs and bring in a new/gently-used costume by
October 24. Contact Becky Schreiber
becky.schreiber@gmail.com with questions. Thank you for your support.
