Co-Ed Gatherings

LGBT & Friends

Seeking to enhance and celebrate Christian life for all believers, LGBT & Friends hosts a dinner-and-discussion evening monthly, usually with a guest speaker.  Meetings in a member's home on the third Tuesday of each month begin with dinner at 8:00 p.m.  Watch this site and the weekly Life@Morningside bulletin insert for specifics about this inclusive and lively group — or reach out to the group coordinators, Rob Payne, Steve Smith, Jeff Peters and Michael Siedschlag.

MPC Couples Group

The Couples Group invites all couples to join them in informal dinner gatherings on the second Friday of each month, year-round. Each month, we gather around 7:00 p.m. at a host couple's home or a neighborhood restaurant of their choice.  Couples of all ages — members and nonmembers, married and partnered — are entirely welcome.  We attract new couples for the first time almost every month. Contact Kathy and Alan Bremer (kdbremer@bellsouth.net or 404.872.3001) to RSVP or for more information.

One Gray Hair

If you have one, you're welcome to join this open group for lunch and an informative program at noon in Fellowship Hall bi-monthly (on the third Wednesday in January, March, May, Spetember and November). Focusing on food and fun, the group also plans outreach activities.  Contact Sarah and Richard Brownlee for more information and watch this site and the weekly Life@Morningside bulletin insert for specific dates and presentation topics.

RHO Readers

RHO (Red Hat Optional) Readers is a general book club for all — members, neighbors and friends — who enjoy reading and chat. Feel free to view the list of the books we've read over the past years and some of our upcoming selections. The rules are simple: there’s no long-term commitment to join and everyone is welcome — even those who haven't actually read the book! The group meets on the third Sunday afternoon of each month at 12:30 p.m. in the Session Room for conversation and literary musings. Come join us any time! Daisy Ottmann is your contact for more information.

During meetings, attendees donate to a Pennies for Pages pot to be given to a literacy project at the end of the year. RHO Readers also sponsor a used-book sale for a couple of Sundays after worship in Fellowship Hall to build our outreach funds. For the past three years we've divided several hundred dollars between The Global Village School in Decatur and the Fugees Academy in Clarkston. Both of these institutions serve refugee children and meet our goal of increased literacy among these new Americans.

Young Adults

Now officially known as T&T (Twenties and Thirties), our young adults are an active and growing segment of our congregation and, mirroring that growth, our T&T group gathers at least once a month to share a meal, converse and get better acquainted.  We participate as a group in mission projects — such as serving dinner at the Journey shelter or building at Habitat for Humanity. We also gather for just-for-fun events such as trivia nights and picnics at Piedmont Park. If you're a young — or young-at-heart — adult and are interested in joining this group, please contact Drew Stockstill or Brad Odom about current and upcoming events.  We’re always looking for new members and new ideas for ways to enjoy one another and serve God and neighbor.
