Senior Pastor and Head of Staff |
The Rev. Dr. Baron A. Mullis, Morningside's Senior Pastor and Head of Staff, has served our church since January, 2011. Previously Dr. Mullis served on the staff of Trinity Presbyerian Church in Charlotte, NC. Prior to his call to Trinity, he received the Lake Fellowship in Parish Ministry, serving that fellowship at Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis. Honors accrued from Princteton Theological Seminary and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte include selection as a Seminary Fellow at Princeton as well as being named a Davenport Scholar at UNC. Additionally, Dr. Mullis was honored by the Princeton Seminary faculty, receiving the presitious Grier-Davies Prize in Preaching in 2000. His doctoral dissertation, completed in 2010, focused on stewardship. His other interests include his beagle mutt, taming the ivy threatening to swamp his house and reading while working out. |

Rev. Drew Stockstill Minister of Young Adults and Adult Education MPC Office Hours: |
The Rev. Drew Stockstill, a May 2012 graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, was ordained in Morningside’s sanctuary on September 23, 2012. In addition to education, Drew’s responsibilities at MPC include acting as liaison to the Board of Deacons and all our small groups, with special emphasis on young adults, assisting Baron with preaching, and other worship-leadership duties. Drew also spends half his week leading and nurturing students for the Emory Campus Ministry, with which Morningside partners. A native of Thomasville, GA, Drew did his undergraduate studies at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, majoring in philosophy and theater. Among Drew’s experiences are serving as senior-class president at CTS and receiving national recognition for the quality of his preaching. He’s also completed several sojourns in Nairobi, Kenya, as a volunteer for The Outreach Foundation and in ministry. He’s married to Ellen, who is completing doctoral work in English and is an elder at Trinity Presbyterian here in Atlanta. |

Rev. Dr. Joanna M. Adams Pastor Emerita |
Preacher, educator, writer and community leader — the Rev. Dr. Joanna M. Adams continues to fill many roles since stepping down from her position as Morningside Presbyterian's Senior Pastor and Head of Staff in January 2010. In January 2012, MPC was proud to honor Joanna as the church's Pastor Emerita. One of her most recent endeavors is the blog Higher Ground, sponsored by The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, in which Joanna, an imam, a rabbi and another noted Christian minister discuss issues, challenges and successes while demontrating how collaboration can create a strong community. Other Presbyterian churches Joanna served during her 30 years of ministry include Atlanta's Central and Trinity, North Decatur, and Chicago's Fourth Presbyterian. A graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, Joanna holds an honorary doctorate of divinity from Davidson College and also received the Alumni Assoication Medal of Honor from Emory and Columbia's Disinguished Alumnus/ae Award. She currently chairs the boards of the presbytery's New Church Development Commission and the Intown Collaborative Ministry. Among organizations she's been instrumental in founding are the Our House preschool for children facing homelessness and the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, working for inclusion of all believers. Her adult children have followed her into the fields of education and theology and her husband Al is a distinguished Atlanta attorney. |

Robert Bolyard Interim Choirmastermusic@morningsidepc.org |
A native of Los Angeles, Robert Bolyard moved to Atlanta in 2008 after receiving his Master's degree in Choral Conducting from the Yale School of Music. While at Yale, Robert was (among other things) the assistant conductor of the Yale Glee Club and conductor of the Yale Glee Club Chamber Singers. Robert most recently served as Music Director/Organist at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Conyers, GA, and keeps busy singing with Coro Vocati, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Chorus, serving as guest clinician in area middle school and high school choruses, playing the viola da gamba, and improvising music for live comedy shows every weekend. Robert also directs Uncommon Practice: a collective of vocalists specializing in early and contemporary music, now in its fourth season. Melinda Sandkam Program Director |
Melinda Sandkam received her Bachelor of Arts in History at The College of William and Mary. Six years in the hospitality industry gave her experience in event planning. She served as Secretary of the Concierge Society and was named Club Level Concierge of the Year in 1994. Moving into working with children brought her to Oglethorpe Presbyterian as a preschool teacher while being a nanny for three elementary age children at the same time. In 2000, Melinda joined OPC and was ordained as an elder. She then accepted the position of part-time Director of Christian Education at OPC while moving to a full-time Office Manager position at Rock Spring Presbyterian. In Director of Christian Education role, she implemented the first confirmation class in five years and worked with neighboring Presbyterian churches to create a multi-church youth group. In 2006, she brought her experience with events, children and the Presbyterian Church to the position of Program Director at Morningside. Outside of the church, Melinda especially likes supporting the work of Heifer International and Georgia Shakespeare. |

Robert W. Gray has served as Assistant to the Pastor at Morningside Presbyterian Church since 2005. He has lived and worked in Atlanta, GA since 1993. |

Chris Peters Director of Youth Ministry

Chris Peters is a student at Columbia Theological Seminary and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina, his home state. Chris has almost 10 years' experience in youth and young adult ministry. |
