Senior Workdays

Returning from our Spring 2010 mission trip to The Pilgrimage in Washington, D.C., Morningside members were especially inspired by the day we spent working on the homes of seniors. That September, we partnered with the HOMES (Home Owner Maintenance and Enhancement for Seniors) program of Fulton County, a program for homeowners over the age of 60 who are unable to perform or afford minor repairs in their homes. These projects help seniors continue to live in their homes more safely.  Since January 2011, MPC has participated in the City of Decatur's MLK Service Day Project, which identifies seniors in need and matches their projects with a volunteer group.

Morningside’s participation:

Morningside commits to the Decatur MLK Service Day Project to provide help with everything from minor repairs to painting and/or yard work.  Another part of this ministry is the time spent with the homeowners encouraging them and showing them that we do care and love them.

How you can get involved:

Look for our sign up sheet for the annual event during MLK Jr. weekend in Decatur, and watch this site, our monthly Morningside Messenger newsletter and weekly Life@Morningside bulletin insert for more information as the weekend draws close.
