Children's Choirs

The Cherub Choir rehearses in the Choir Room from September through May on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:30 p.m. A new Youth Ensemble prepares music for special seasons — Lent and Advent — over a short-term rehearsal period. The choirs are open to all children, kindergarten and older. The children learn basic music skills in a relaxed environment and sing frequently in the Sunday morning worship services.  Experienced music educator Rebecca Shipley directs the children's choirs.

Organist/Choirmaster Walter Huff is involved in the rehearsals. Sessions include humor and games as well as serious music learning.  For example, when they practice marching in waving palm branches on Palm Sunday, Walter will ask: "How much space do you keep between people?" And they all answer, "Enough room for an elephant!"
