* THE CALL TO WORSHIP Chris Henry
Leader: They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
People: They shall mount up with wings as eagles,
Leader: They shall run and not be weary,
People: They shall walk and not faint.
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 487 When Morning Gilds the Skies
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
We have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.
O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare those who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to the world in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful God, for his sake, that we may live a holy, just, and humble life for the glory of your holy name. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 417)
Laud and honor to the Father, Laud and honor to the Son,
Laud and honor to the Spirit, ever three and ever one;
One in might and one in glory while unending ages run.
* THE PEACE OF CHRIST
(Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary during worship. Should you find that your child grows restless, there is child care available. Infants and toddlers up to two years of age are cared for in the Nursery in Room 105. Children ages 2-11 are invited to leave after The Peace of Christ for special classes. Preschoolers are in Room 204 and K-5th grade are in Room 201.)

THE FIRST LESSON Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7 (page 687 in the Pew Bible)
THE ANTHEM Go Forth with God! Martin Shaw
Go forth with God! The day is now that thou must meet the test of youth, salvation’s helm upon thy brow. Go girded with the living truth. In ways your elder brethren trod thy feet are set. Think fair of all and all you love, and with the builder bear thy part. Let every day and duty prove the humble witness of thy heart. ‘Tis God bids thee increase the bounds of love and joy and peace.
Behold with thine uplifted eyes beauty through all that sorrow sees, and make of earth a paradise, the substance of thy dearest dreams. Bring laughter to thy great employ. Go forth with God and find His joy! Go forth with God! The world awaits the coming of the pure and strong. Strike for the Faith and storm the gates that keep the citadels of wrong. Glory shall shine about thy road, great heart, if thou go forth with God! (text by Barclay Baron)
THE SECOND LESSON II Timothy 2:1-13 (page 200 in the Pew Bible)
THE SERMON “Press on Regardless” Joanna Adams
...if we endure, we will also reign with him...II Timothy 2:12a
* THE HYMN 248 You Are Before Me, Lord
* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Nearer My God to Thee McAfee
* THE DOXOLOGY AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Hymn 592)
*THE HYMN 276 Great Is Thy Faithfulness
