* THE CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                    Chris Henry

Leader:     Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth.

People:   We will sing the glory of God’s name, and give to God glorious praise!

Leader:     Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of God’s praise be heard.

People:   Let all the earth worship you, and sing praises to your holy name.

Leader:     Let us worship God.

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 285       God,  You Spin the Whirling Planets

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

   God of grace, love, and communion, we confess that we have failed to love you with all our heart, soul, and mind; and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We ignore your commandments, stray from your way, and follow other gods. Have mercy on us. Forgive our sin and raise us to new life that we may serve you faithfully and give honor to your holy name. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE                                                             (Hymn 417)

Laud and honor to the Father, Laud and honor to the Son,
Laud and honor to the Spirit, ever three and ever one;
One in might and one in glory while unending ages run.

* THE PEACE OF CHRIST

(Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary during worship. Should you find that your child grows restless, there is child care available. Infants and toddlers up to two years of age are cared for in the Nursery in Room 105. Children ages 2-11 are invited to leave after the Baptism for special classes. Preschoolers are in Room 204 and K-5th grade are in Room 201.)

THE CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH

(Visitors and members are invited to sign the blue friendship register pad and pass it down the pew.)

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Leader:  This child has now been received into the one holy catholic and apostolic church through baptism.  God has made him a member of the household of God.  See what love the Father has for us, that we should be called children of God, and
so we are.  Let us welcome the newly baptized.

People:  With joy and thanksgiving we welcome this child into Christ’s church.  We are the family of God for we are all one in Christ.

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED

    I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,

    And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

    I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the  communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

    Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
