THE PRELUDE Walter Huff
* THE CALL TO WORSHIP Joanna Adams
Leader: O Lord, open to us the gates of righteousness so that we may enter
them.
People: We will sing praises to you, for you hear our prayer, and
you have become our salvation.
Leader: Give thanks to God, for God alone is good.
People: Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Holy
God.
All: Hosanna in the highest!
* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 88 All Glory, Laud, and Honor
A WORD WITH THE CHILDREN
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, like your children of old, we gather with loud praises to Jesus,
the King of kings and Lord of lords. Yet, we acknowledge, while our lips have
praised him, our steps have often led us away from him. We have confessed
him to be our Lord, yet have turned away from his call to lay down our lives
for the sake of the Gospel. Forgive us for living to satisfy our own desires,
rather than walking in the way of Jesus. Empower us by your Spirit to give our
Lord more than lip service, that we may also honor him with loving obedience,
to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 416)
Laud and honor to the Father, laud and honor to the Son, laud and honor to
the Spirit, ever three and ever one; one in might and one in glory while
unending ages run.
* THE PEACE OF CHRIST
(Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary during worship. Should you find that your child grows restless,
there is child care available. Infants are cared for in the Nursery in Room 105, toddlers 18 months through two
years in Room 112. Children ages 2-11 are invited to leave after the Passing of the Peace for special
classes. Preschoolers are in Room G-11 and K-5th grade are in Room G-1.)

* THE HYMN 91 Ride On! Ride On in Majesty!
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Libera Me (from Requiem) Fauré
Andrew Sudduth, baritone
Deliver me, Lord, from death eternal upon that day of terror, upon that day of trial; then shall heaven
and earth be moved, be consumed together, for thou shalt come upon the earth in judgment. Trembling, I
stand before thee and wait in fear till judgment shall come upon the earth and all shall know thine anger.
Day of wrath and doom impending! Death then is struck and all creation wakes. Day of wrath and day of
sorrow! Great the waking, exceeding bitter. Grant them eternal rest, Lord; let light perpetual shine upon
them. Deliver me, O Lord.
* THE RESPONSE AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Hymn 85)
To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing, to God and to the Lamb, I will sing; to
God and to the Lamb who is the great I Am, while millions join the theme, I will sing, I
will sing; while millions join the theme, I will sing!
* THE HYMN 101 When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
* THE CHARGE AND BENEDICTION
* THE CHORAL RESPONSE Christ, We Do All Adore Thee Dubois
(from The Seven Last Words of Christ)
Christ, we do all adore Thee and we do praise Thee forever. For on the holy cross hast Thou
