THE PRELUDE                                                                         Walter Huff

* THE CALL TO WORSHIP                                                       Robert Gray

Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done marvelous
things.

People: The right hand of the Lord has secured victory for God’s
people.

Leader: Shout with joy to the Lord, all you lands! Lift up your
voice, rejoice, and sing!

People: Let the sea make a noise, the rivers clap their hands, and
let the hills ring out with joy before the Lord.

Leader: Let us worship God.

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 113         Christ the Lord Is Risen Today!

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of love and light, you have called us to live by your light, in unity of
heart and mission; yet we have continued in ways of darkness. We hide from
you and from one anther, rather than joining hands, hearts, and resources to
live and work for your peace and justice. Though called and chosen to live in
confident hope that Christ's resurrection assures us of abundant life, we
anxiously strive instead to preserve and increase our personal well-being and
profit. Forgive us for denying the light of Easter's hope, and empower us by
your Holy Spirit to walk in the light, freely laying down our lives for Christ's
sake, even as he did for us. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 119)
The strife is o’er, the battle done, the victory of life is won.
The song of triumph has begun. Alleluia!

* THE PEACE OF CHRIST
(Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary during worship. Should you find that your child grows restless,
there is child care available. Infants are cared for in the Nursery in Room 105, toddlers 18 months through two
years in Room 112. Children ages 2-11 are invited to leave after the Passing of the Peace for special
classes. Preschoolers are in Room G-11 and K-5th grade are in Room G-1.)

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by
the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the
third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and
sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence
he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the
communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the
body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us
this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
