People: I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty God, who sent the promised power of the Holy Spirit
to fill disciples with willing faith: we confess that we have held
back the force of your Spirit among us; that we have been slow to
serve you, and reluctant to spread the good news of your love.
God, have mercy on us. Forgive our divisions, and by your Spirit
draw us together. Fill us with flaming desire to do your will, and
be a faithful people; for the sake of your Son, our Lord, Jesus
Christ. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove, with all Thy quickening powers;
Come, shed abroad a Savior’s love, and that shall kindle ours. Amen.

THE RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Leader: These children have now been received into the one holy catholic and apostolic
church through baptism. God has made them members of the household of God. See
what love the Father has for us, that we should be called children of God, and so we
are. Let us welcome the newly baptized.
People: With joy and thanksgiving we welcome these children into Christ’s
church. We are the family of God for we are all one in Christ.

* THE CREED                                         A Brief Statement of Faith - Presbyterian Church (USA)
We trust in God the Holy Spirit,
everywhere the giver and renewer of life.
The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith,
sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor,
and binds us together with all believers
in one body of Christ, the church.
In a broken and fearful world
    the Spirit gives us courage
    to pray without ceasing,
to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior,
to unmask idolatries in church and culture,
to hear the voices of peoples long silenced,
and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.
In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit,
we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks
and to live holy and joyful lives,
even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth,
    praying, Come, Lord Jesus!

will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory,
forever. Amen.
