Leader: Praise the Lord, you who worship God. Stand in awe of God and give
glory to the Lord.
People: For the Lord does not despise the poor and needy, but when
they cry out, God answers them.
Leader: The hungry shall eat and be satisfied, and those who love the Lord shall
offer praise.
People: All the ends of the earth shall worship God, for the Lord rules
over every nation.

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Righteous God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word,
and deed. We have professed our faith in you, and our loyalty to you; but our
words ring hollow. We do not live by the truth we speak. We turn aside from
those in greatest need and fail to love our neighbors as ourselves. Forgive us
for seeking to serve you merely by saying the right things. Empower us by your
Spirit to live according to your word, so that people may see our good works,
and glorify you as the true Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
