Text: Matthew 5:33-37; II Corinthians 1:15-22
Sunday School Kick Off
This Sunday, Aug. 17, come early for Coffee & Conversation on the front lawn at 9:30 a.m. At 9:45 Children of all ages will "bridge" to their next class, and the Adults begin a new study on "Reading the Bible and Our Confessions" with Associate Pastor Chris Henry in Room 107. During worship, we will celebrate Morningside's Christian Education offerings and recognize those in leadership. Please plan on joining us for this very special day.
Meet Nancy Meehan Yao
Welcome Nancy Meehan Yao, our new Children's Worship Leader. Nancy is a senior at Columbia Theological Seminary and has 20 years experience teaching children. We are excited to have her on board in an area that continues to grow at Morningside. Be sure to meet Nancy at the Sunday school kickoff this Sunday, when ten children will be "bridging" from Pre-K to Kindergarten age group. At last count, 24 children in K - 2nd grade will be served by Nancy as Sunday school and Children's Worship leader.
New Member Sunday
This Sunday, Aug. 17, is New Member Sunday. If you have been thinking about joining Morningside, plan on coming early for Coffee & Conversation on the front lawn, then to the Inquirers Class at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room 103. The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Please be in touch with Joanna Adams at joannamadams@bellsouth.net or 404.876.7396 x11 to let her know of your interest.
Hayden-Henry Reception
You are invited to a special reception this Sunday in the Fellowship Hall after worship, as we welcome Associate Pastor Chris Henry and his bride Sara Hayden back to MPC after their marriage on August 2 in Kansas.
Lunch & Learn
New Members and Visitors - come to our quarterly Lunch & Learn with Joanna Adams and Chris Henry, after worship at 12:15 p.m., August 24, in Room 107. Construction Update
In this picture (attached) by Aaron Bertrand, a worker slices through rebar (steel poles) and sparks fly. Rebar reinforces the walls for the elevator.
Did You Know...?
Our Summer Camp had "Reptile Day" last week. Reptile Wranglers brought a 70-lb. python and lots of other lizards and snakes for the children to see. That explains the outdoorsy types carrying large baskets and heavy-duty butterfly nets slipping in the front door!
