Morningside Welcomes New Members!  
We are pleased to introduce new members to the Morningside fold who joined the church Sunday, August 17.  Get to know these interesting people:
Shirley Adair
, a semi-retired pharmacist, enjoys education, tennis, dancing and missions. Shirley is mom to Session member Van Crisco.
John and Maggie Adams - John is a securities regulator who enjoys running and biking. Maggie, an actuary, lists reading, baking and cooking as her interests. Their children are Frances, age 6, and Eleanor, 4.
Andrea Arnold
is assistant city manager for the City of Decatur. Andrea and her husband David have two children, Eleanor, age 5, and Ben, 3.
Lynn and Tom Daniel - Lynn is retired and enjoys quilting, teaching special education and walking. (She is already a member of Morningside Walkers group.) Tom is Senior Vice Chancellor for the University System of Georgia.
Amy DeBaets
is a PhD student in bioethics and husband Brian Mills is a web content strategist. They enjoy hiking and theatre.
Nathan Burgess is in sales with Kenworth Truck Co.
Shanon Hall
is a nanny who enjoys running, reading, writing poetry and gardening. Shanon was also baptized during the worship service on Sunday. She and Nathan Burgess plan to be married at MPC.
Michael and Brooke Lampe
- Michael is a regional sales manager whose interests include Habitat for Humanity, hiking, camping and woodworking. Brooke is a social worker with interests in social justice and social issues.
Sharon Pace
, a pharmacist, is interested in feeding the poor, needs of the elderly and poverty.

Starting Monday morning, August 25, the Preschool parking lot will be closed for paving.

Women's Roundtable Returns
The fall season of the Roundtable starts August 25, 6 p.m., at the home of Amy Jarratt, 1697 N. Pelham Road, 30324.  All women are invited.  Bring a tapas dish to share. For directions and details, contact msandkam@morningsidepc.org, or 404.876.7396 x 15.

Pre-K and Older

The Bible Class Begins New Study
Associate Pastor Chris Henry's 7-week study on reading the Bible and the confessions continues Sundays at 9:45 a.m. through September in Room 107. Join Chris for a deep look at the interplay between scripture and creed.

Welcome Home Baskets
Pick a leaf from the Giving Tree in the Narthex, and return the item listed on the leaf by September 7. Baskets of items will go to Clifton Sanctuary Ministries men making the transition from homelessness to independent living. More info: Nancy Collins at n_collins@bellsouth.net or 770.842.3959. 

Sympathy and Prayers
Our sympathy to Tia and Brian Bartis in the loss of their close to end-of-term baby last week. Keep them in your prayers. Sympathy to Lynsley Tyler on the death of her aunt. Prayers also for Cindy Humphries who is recovering from a recent injury.


Did You Know...?  Dumpster Awaits Debris
So far, our Time of Promise contractors have filled and emptied the huge dumpster 6 times.  Each load is 40 cubic yards.  That means 240 cubic yards of debris hauled away, equivalent to 80 pickup truck loads.
