* THE CALL TO WORSHIP Robert Gray
Leader: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in
steadfast love.

creation.
Leader: All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your faithful
shall bless you.
People: Our mouths shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh
will bless God's holy name forever and ever.
Leader: Let us worship God.

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 285 God, You Spin the Whirling Planets

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, whose reign we have denied and whose purpose we have
opposed, we pray for forgiveness and healing. You have given us a bounty,
and we have hoarded its abundance. You have given us wholeness, and we
have fragmented creation. You have given us each other, and we have
manipulated those around us for our own profit and gain. You have given us
wisdom, but we have been content with convenience. We have conserved the
abundance of your love as though it could be exhausted, and we have wasted
the resources of your world as though they were imperishable. Forgive us, O
God. Turn us around and claim us for your own purposes. Receive us into the
outstretched arms of your mercy. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

* THE HYMN 400 When We are Living

* THE APOSTLES' CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the
Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose
again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right
hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the
quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion
of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life
everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
