Sarah Beth Gehl, a native of Birmingham, has put her master's degree in urban planning and policy to good use on Morningside's Strategic Planning Committee. She is deputy director of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute.
Bobbi McCracken will magically find time to serve on Session during these turbulent economic times as vice president and public affairs officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She also serves on the board of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Atlanta.
Leslie Prince returns to Session to complete Lucy Enniss's term. This Kentucky native and management safety consultant says her favorite activity at Morningside is teaching four-year-olds in Sunday School. Leslie is chair of the Clifton Night Shelter.
Mardee Rightmyer is 100% Presbyterian. She's working on her doctorate at Columbia Theological Seminary while directing the Resource Center for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. She adds service as an elder to her work in our Children's Sunday School.
John Watson served two tours of duty in Pearlington, Mississippi with Presbyterian Disaster Relief for Katrina victims, and was deputy superintendent of Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta. John's wife is Ann, and daughter is Anna.
DEACONS:
Tim Gargis, a Savannah native, is a master at the barbecue and recently grilled pork chops for residents at the Clifton Night Shelter. Tim is also sales manager for the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center.
Betsy Holland is an organizer. She helped put together Morningside's Women's Roundtable, is manager of community relations and corporate sustainability at Turner Broadcasting, and chairs the Atlanta Community Tool Bank board. Betsy teaches pre-k during worship.
Bill Means, marketing manager of the AJC, got his picture in Tuesday's paper as chaplain of the paper's 25 Year Club. Bill has worked there since 1982. He has served on Session for 6 years, and worked in evangelism and congregational care. He and wife Sanda have one daughter, Katy.
Shari Tant says her greatest joy is time with her grandchildren. After 24 years with Hallmark Cards, she's still not ready to retire. She and husband Leon have two children, daughter Kim Perez and son Kerry, and grandkids Isabella and Jack.
2009 NOMINATING COMMITTEE (congregational representatives):
Beth Baer raised son Bryan at St. Simons Island before Beth entered law school at Georgia State at age 44. Her law practice includes real estate cases including mortgage fraud. Beth heads Morningside's Grounds Committee and has served as deacon and elder.

Can Can Do
Help sort food at Atlanta Community Food Bank on Saturday morning, October 18, 9am-12noon. Anyone who would like to is welcome for lunch afterwards! Contact MPC Shepherd Randy Brookins with any questions at 365runswim2live1968@gmail.com.
Time of Promise Update
Look at how our new entrance is shaping up at Morningside! Thanks to Aaron Bertrand for the photo. Brick work is now finished. Air conditioning units have been hoisted onto the roof. Now starting: drywall, elevator installation and electrical work.
Ring It On
Have you ever wished you were a part of Morningside’s music ministry, but didn't think your singing voice was good enough? This could be your big chance! Morningside is now forming a handbell choir. Beginners will find it easy to learn how to read music and ring out your notes. If you’re an experienced musician, you’ll find interesting and unique challenges. We’ll meet once a week for rehearsal, learning, and fun, and perform at various times throughout the year. Please pick up an information sheet in the Narthex or contact James Klotz at james.klotz@flyasa.com.
Curtain Call
You are invited to Morningside’s group date to see the play “Managing Maxine” at the Alliance Theater on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2:30 p.m. Please contact Kathy or Alan Bremer at kdbremer@bellsouth.net or call 404.872.3001.
Sympathy
Sympathy to the family of Moss Robertson, Jr., whose wife Lindsay died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008. The Robertson and Boomershine families were long-time members of Morningside, with Moss Robertson, Sr. serving as associate pastor.
Did You Know…?
Morningside historian Philip Hawkins has written a theological interpretation and history of the fascinating mural on our Fellowship Hall wall? Read it here! A copy of Philip's treatise has now been handsomely framed and awaits installation on the mural wall once our construction is complete.
