New Member Sunday
Our next New Member Sunday is Dec. 14. If you have been thinking about joining Morningside, plan on coming to the Inquirers’ Class at 9:45 a.m. that morning in the Session Room 103. The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Please contact Joanna Adams at joannamadams@bellsouth.net or 404.876.7396 x11 to let her know of your interest.

Theology on Tap Tonight
The Men of Morningside will gather for our monthly Theology on Tap tonight at the home of Richard Brownlee (1046 Bellevue Drive NE, Atlanta 30306). We will share a meal, followed by a discussion entitled: “Why Pray?” Together we will explore why Christians are called to pray and what happens when we pray. The food and fellowship will be delightful, and the discussion lively!  Make plans to join us tonight. For more information, or to RSVP, contact Associate Pastor Chris Henry.

Women's Bible Study
Joanna Adams’ First Wednesday Women’s Bible Study will be Wed., Dec. 3, from 9:15 – 10:30 a.m. This year’s study is on the Gospel of Luke. This week we'll have a special Christmas focus. Come at 9 a.m. for coffee and pastries.  Childcare is provided.  Women from the community, members, visitors and friends are all welcome.

Free Holiday Babysitting
This Wednesday, Dec. 3, is the deadline to sign up your child for Free Holiday Babysitting on Monday, Dec. 8, 5-8 p.m.  If you can't sign up on the bulletin board at the Preschool entrance, please e-mail Melinda at msandkam@morningsidepc.org so she can add your child’s name.  Please consider volunteering to help with this fun evening. If you can help, be sure to indicate what time you can arrive (4:40 p.m. is preferred) and if you have an age preference.

Please Stay
One night left to fill at Shearith Israel Women’s Shelter.  We still need two volunteers for this Saturday evening, Dec. 6 to stay over 6:15 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.  Please contact Jeanne McCarthy today if you can help out.  And, if you are able to do a two hour shift on Christmas Day, let Jeanne know too.

Going Up
Elevator installation is finally complete (see recent photo above by Aaron Bertrand). Our new lobby floor and restroom tiles are now in place. Second floor painting is nearing completion while half the first floor painting is done. New HVAC is 99% complete.

Hammer Award – On Saturday, November 21, MPC received its 5th Hammer Award from Habitat for Humanity, acknowledging our participation in Atlanta's 1000th home dedication.  Morningside was a participant in Interfaith Build Day, where Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu organizations combined efforts to build a wonderful new home for a deserving family.  Chip Edgerton, Lloyd Prince and Ted McMahan were on hand for the ceremony.  Watch for news about our next Habitat build next spring!

Trees for Advent
Each Sunday in Fellowship Hall, thanks to our gifted Worship Decorations Committee, be sure to see the beautiful trees focused on Advent themes of hope, love, joy and peace.

Flowers for Advent (attached)
If you would like to honor a loved one with flowers during Advent and Christmas, please fill out the attached form and mail it to the church office with your check enclosed. Please note deadline is this Sunday, Dec. 7.

Did You Know…?
Thanks to generous donations by preschool parents and church members, 36 books from the Preschool’s Scholastic Book Fair were given to Our House?  This is our largest-ever donation of new books to Our House, a safe haven in Decatur where a homeless parent can confidently leave a child while seeking employment and permanent housing. Total sales for the Book Fair: $2,683, proceeds from which will help purchase more books for the Morningside Preschool Program.
