Worship for Third Sunday of Advent, December 14, 2008
The Great Music of Christmas: Walter Huff and Chancel Choir present selections from Bach, Handel, Holst, Rutter and others.
New Member Sunday
This Sunday is New Member Sunday (Dec. 14.) If you have been thinking about joining Morningside, plan on coming to the Inquirers’ Class at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room 103. The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Please contact Joanna Adams at joannamadams@bellsouth.net or 404.876.7396 x11 to let her know of your interest.
Pageant Worknight
Please let Melinda know if you can join us for a pageant worknight on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m. We will assemble final props and work on lighting. We are also building an extra stage for our sheep and would welcome some helping hands this week. Contact Ted McMahan 404.875.1485 if you would be able to work with him to provide a place for our 14 sheep to “flock”.
Two Hours on Christmas Day
If you can do a two-hour shift on Christmas Day at Shearith Israel Women’s Shelter, please contact Jeanne McCarthy.
Movers and Shakers
Moving day is almost here, and we need your help in moving, cleaning and organizing our new office space. We need eager volunteers who can join us on Thursday, December 18 from 9a.m. to 12p.m, and/or Friday, December 19 from 3p.m. - 5p.m. Contact our seminary intern Kevin Weber at 404.831.0451 if you can help. Professional movers have been hired to transport large items and furniture. Your job would include packing and moving light items and putting the finishing touches on this new space! It promises to be a very joyful and exciting celebration!
Sympathy
Sympathy to the family of Rebecca Holmes whose aunt, Anne Shearer, died on December 5. Services will be held this Sunday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta.
Sympathy to the family of Brooke Lampe, whose grandmother died.
Sympathy to the family of Jill Davis, whose step-father died.
Stewardship Annual Campaign Update
Thus far 174 pledges have been received totaling $619,461. This compares with 129 pledges totaling $470,960 last year. Praise God! We have been able to assure Chris Henry that he will be our full-time Associate Pastor next year. We are very close to our overall goal of $625,000. There are still several pledges we hope to receive. If you've delayed sending yours, please do so asap as we'd like to wrap things up in the next 10 days or so. - Bill Humphries, Stewardship Chair
