MORNINGSIDE IN CONVERSATION WITH OTHER FAITHS
We live in a city of stunning religious diversity, where many of our neighbors and friends belong to different faith traditions from our own. This diversity gives us all the opportunity for dialogue, education, and deeper religious commitment. This spring, we are pleased to welcome to Morningside three distinguished speakers from other religious faiths for a series of Sunday Forums. Each speaker will address, from their own religious perspective, the central issues facing the religious community here and now. Next Sunday, March 15, our first speaker in the series will be Tayyibah Taylor, who is the founding editor-in-chief of Azizah Magazine, which provides a vehicle for the voice of Muslim-American women that shatters stereotypes and promotes understanding. Taylor is a well-respected leader in interfaith initiatives in our city and around the world, and we are delighted that she is coming to begin this series. The forum will take place in Room 201 at 12:15 p.m. This series will continue on April 26, when our speaker will be Rabbi Ron Segal, who is Senior Rabbi at Temple Sinai and a leading voice in Atlanta's Jewish community. On May 17, we will welcome a representative from the Hindu community in Atlanta. Please make plans to be a part of this exciting and timely series at Morningside, as we learn from the rich religious perspectives that surround us.
SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION
It's not time to get out your bathing suits and towels, but it is time to enroll your preschool children (ages 2-5) in MPP Summer Camp. Camp meets from 9:30-1:30 for two week sessions. For details, please go to the church website and follow the links to the preschool. Registration begins on March 16 and is first-come, first-serve.
HABITAT KICKS OFF MARCH 28!
Once again, MPC will partner this spring with Haygood UMC, Sacred Heart Catholic, Northwest and First Presbyterian Churches to help a deserving family achieve the dream of affordable homeownership by building a Habitat for Humanity house. It's a fun way to serve the community and also meet great people. Build dates begin Saturday, March 28 and continue through May 16, although we take a break for Easter weekend. Please signup today on the Habitat easel in the Narthex to participate on build dates or assist with lunch. No previous experience is necessary. Contact Lynsley Tyler (404.724.0606 or lynsley@bellsouth.net) and Chip Edgerton (jle1844@att.net) for more details. Our church has reserved the beautiful William Black Lodge in Montreat, North Carolina, for our first and hopefully annual fall retreat! The dates are Friday-Sunday, November 20-22, 2009. Details and costs will soon be forthcoming. Kids, adults, and everyone in between are invited. We have already lined up a marvelous retreat leader. (Church will be held on Sunday in the Morningside sanctuary for those who cannot participate in the retreat.)

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
The Bible Class - The Last Week
A Day-by-Day Account of Jesus' Final Week in Jerusalem
Next Sunday, Morningside's Bible Class will continue its Lenten Study on the final days leading to the crucifixion of Jesus through the lens of Mark's Gospel. As we study these well-known scripture passages, we will discuss their meaning for us as we travel our own Lenten Pilgrimage in 2009. Next week, our focus will be on Holy Tuesday, which occupies the longest section of Mark's Passion narrative. In these chapters, Jesus converses and debates with the religious leaders in Jerusalem, and speaks in parables that defy the expectations of the crowd that welcomed him into Jerusalem just two days earlier. On Holy Tuesday, the conflict between Jesus and the Temple authorities intensifies as he teaches and preaches in the Holy City. This class is taught by Associate Pastor Chris Henry and meets at 9:45am in Room 201.
