FAITH ALLIANCE OF METRO ATLANTA
What does God think about the economy? Would paying closer attention to the precepts of our faith traditions have kept us from this economic calamity? What do our major faith traditions say about commerce, economics and wealth? What, realistically, is the role of religious and moral ethics in an advanced capitalistic economy? Discuss this and more at the April Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta Assembly meeting on Wednesday, April 22, 7:30 p.m. at the Emory University Center for Ethics. Panelists will be: Paul Wolpe, an ethicist representing the Jewish tradition; Gareth Young, an entrepreneur and financial strategist representing the Buddhist tradition; and Faisal Charles Whatley, economist, Muslim.

NEW MEMBER SUNDAY
If you have been thinking about joining Morningside on our next New Member Sunday, April 26, plan on coming to the Inquirers' Class at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room. The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Please be in touch with Joanna Adams at joannamadams@bellsouth.net or 404.876.7396 x11 to let her know of your interest.

JOHN CALVIN FELLOWSHIP
In 2009, Presbyterians all over the world are celebrating the 500th birthday of John Calvin. In honor of this occasion, the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta is sponsoring a series of dinners and breakfasts to honor our esteemed ancestor. Guests are invited to give $500 to the support of the mission of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. Of course, gifts greater or less than $500 are also welcome. The breakfast that will be held closest to Morningside will be April 30 at Trinity Church in Atlanta at 8 a.m. Joanna Adams will be in attendance, and any who would like to go, please be in touch with her by voice mail (404.876.7396, x. 11) or e-mail (joannamadams@bellsouth.net).

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
The Bible Class - The Relevance of the Biblical Proverbs for Our Economic Crisis

Next Sunday, Morningside's Bible Class will welcome the Rev. Dr. Samuel Adams, who is Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, VA and an ordained Presbyterian minister. Professor Adams will lead our class in a fascinating study of the Book of Proverbs in relation to the current economic crisis, which combines his scholarly interest in the Wisdom literature of the Bible and current concern over the state of the economy. What do the Biblical proverbs have to teach us in the midst of this economic downturn? Come to learn and discuss--this is a class you won't want to miss! The Bible Class meets each Sunday in Room 201 at 9:45am.
