MORNINGSIDE IN CONVERSATION WITH OTHER FAITHS
Plan to stay after worship today for the second in our series of events this spring that highlight the perspective of another faith tradition in our city. This afternoon, our speaker will be Rabbi Ronald Segal, Senior Rabbi at Temple Sinai in North Atlanta. Rabbi Segal is active in the greater Atlanta Jewish and interfaith communities, serving as chair of the Sandy Springs Interfaith Clergy Association and on the board of Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta. Rabbi Segal has also served alongside Joanna Adams as part of a Jewish/Presbyterian dialogue group for Atlanta rabbis and ministers. The forum will take place in Room 201 at 12:15pm. This series will continue on May 17, when our speaker will be Gillian Renault, a member of the Board of Directors at the Vedanta Center of Atlanta, who will offer a Hindu perspective. Make plans to be a part of this exciting and timely series at Morningside, as we learn from the religious perspectives of our neighbors.
WOMEN'S ROUNDTABLE
All are welcome to the last spring Roundtable on Monday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Lynn Young's home (277 The Prado, 30309). Singer, guitarist, educator and resident artist, Elise Witt will be our guest speaker. RSVP to Betsy Holland at Betsy.Holland@turner.com.
PLEASE JOIN US AT EL TACO
On Tuesday, April 28, El Taco (Fifth Group Restaurants) located at 1186 N. Highland Avenue will donate 10 percent of the night's proceeds to Morningside Presbyterian Preschool! Bring your family and friends to enjoy some simple and fresh Mexican food, and know you are supporting our preschool at the same time! Dinner is served 5-10 p.m.
MLPA ANNUAL MEETING
On Tuesday, April 28, the Morningside Lenox-Park Association will hold its annual meeting at Morningside Church. Representatives from the Atlanta Police Department, elected officials, the Morningside Security Patrol and other community representatives will be on hand to answer your questions. Morningside has long provided meeting space for this organization. Mark your calendars now and plan to come to this important meeting. It will be a great opportunity to learn about upcoming events and issues affecting our neighborhood.
YOUNG ADULT TRIVIA NIGHT
"Youngish" adults and the young-at-heart are invited to join us for trivia this Thursday, April 30, at 8 p.m. at Tin Roof Cantina (2591 Briarcliff Road). HABITAT BUILD UNDERWAY
The build continues on MPC's 2009 Habitat for Humanity house. MPC is partnering with four other area churches to make affordable homeownership a reality for an Atlanta family. Please consider participating with our remaining builds---Saturdays through May 16. Signups are on the Habitat board in the Narthex or by contacting Lynsley Tyler (Lynsley@bellsouth.net or 404.724.0606).
THEOLOGY ON TAP
Men of Morningside, be sure your calendars are marked for Theology on Tap next Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the home of Al Adams (136 Westminster Drive NE, 30309). Topic: "What is the Bible?" We will share our perspectives on the importance of scripture, and discuss the wide range of beliefs about the origination and meaning of the Bible. The food will be good and the discussion will be lively, make plans to join us! You can RSVP by contacting Chris Henry this week.
MORNINGSIDE RECEIVES GRANT
Morningside has received a matching grant from Georgia Interfaith Power and Light. The grant will enable us to make improvements to our church property to reduce our utility bills and carbon footprint. We can raise money to match the grant through an innovative program. The Georgia Power Credit Program helps control the power used by your home's air conditioner and supports the church while reducing your bill if you sign up through MPC. Morningside's share will go toward the $2775 we need to meet the match. To learn how the credit program works, visit the EAC table during Fellowship Hour the next several Sundays, or contact the EAC chair, Sarah Tomaka at 404.874.3770 or sarah.tomaka@gmail.com.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
The Bible Class - Earth Day Celebration
Next Sunday, Morningside's Bible Class will begin a new five-week series exploring scriptural themes related to the economy. As we struggle to understand what it means to call ourselves Christian in our time, we turn to the timeless words of the Hebrew scriptures and New Testament. The series will begin with an overview of diverse economic perspectives on scripture, from Calvinist frugality to current expressions of prosperity theology. We will explore how others have read the Bible through an economic lens as we prepare to do the same from our distinct context. The Morningside Bible Class is taught by Associate Pastor Chris Henry and meets at 9:45am in Room 201. All are welcome.
