WORSHIP MAY 3, 2009
FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER

THE PRELUDE Walter Huff

THE INTROIT Lift Up the Gates Eternal Israeli folk melody
These Times Call for a Vision Hopson
These times call for a vision, these times call for a dream. We must join our hearts together,
we must find God's way. Look up high in the heaven, choose a bright shining star. It will guide
our faithful journey. It will lead us to our dream.
Children's Choir-Brittney Jaynes, director

* THE CALL TO WORSHIP Christopher Henry
Leader: Grace unto you and peace from God, who was and who is, and who is
to come,
People: And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first born of
the dead, ruler above all rulers of the earth.
Leader: In love Jesus Christ suffered death to free us from our sins,
People: Making us a nation of priests set aside for God's service.
All: To Jesus Christ be the glory and power forever and ever!
Amen. (based on Early Christian Worship and the Book of Revelation)

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, for the day you have given us, with all its possibilities, we thank you.
For your gifts of life and love, of labor and rest, we praise your holy name. Forgive
us that too often we are unappreciative while your goodness surrounds us; that we
feel alone when there are many who love us; that we despair when your strength is
near at hand. Tear down the walls that isolate us, make strong the ties that bind us,
and help us to walk together with joy in all your ways; through the grace of Jesus
Christ and the power of your Spirit. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
