Thought for the Week
If you look at a window, you see fly-specks, dust, the crack where Junior's frisbee hit it. If you look through a window, you see the world beyond. Something like this is the difference between those who see the Bible as a Holy Bore and those who see it as the Word of God which speaks out of the depths of an almost unimaginable past into the depths of ourselves.
Frederick Buechner, Wishful Thinking: A Seeker's ABC
Playground Picnic
All are welcome after worship this Sunday at the picnic tables for a family picnic. Bring a dish to share. Beverages and paper products will be provided.
The Registration Form is NOW on line!
Don't miss our first ever churchwide retreat. To register for the November retreat in beautiful Montreat, North Carolina go to www.morningsidepc.org, and for more information contact Sarah Brownlee at rsbrownlee1046@att.net.
Preschool Leadership Change
Martha Hartzell, director of the Morningside Presbyterian Preschool, has let the Session and Preschool community know that she is resigning from her post, due to family matters, especially her father's declining health. Martha has agreed to stay on board during summer camp and until a replacement is found.
A search committee for the new director has been formed. Our love and thanks to Martha, who has done such a fabulous job these past three years. We will officially celebrate her leadership later in the summer.

...that excerpts from MPC staff member Chris Henry's recent sermon "A Relevant Faith for Our Time" are printed in The Covenant Connection Summer 2009 newsletter?
