THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"Most people have an idea of God, an idea that tends to center around power. God is all-powerful, omnipotent, God is in charge of everything. The Christian gospel, however, starts its understanding of God from a very different place. To read the biblical narratives is to encounter a God who is, first of all, Love. Love involves a willingness to put oneself at risk, and God is in fact vulnerable in love, vulnerable even to great suffering." -William Placher
REFLECTIONS ON THIRTY YEARS OF MINISTRY
Morningside's pastor, Joanna Adams, was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on July 3, 1979. On this Sunday, July 5, 2009, which marks the thirtieth year of her ordained ministry, Joanna will offer reflections on the lessons and experiences of three decades of distinguished leadership in the Presbyterian Church and the City of Atlanta. This informal conversation with our pastor will take place after worship in Room 201.
