FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY
The flowers this Sunday are given to the glory of God and in honor of Joanna Adams on the 30th anniversary of her ordination.
ASSISTING US IN WORSHIP
This morning we welcome as liturgist Bart Smith, who joined the Morningside congregation in March. At its last meeting, the Morningside Session approved Bart to begin the process that leads to ordination as Minister of the Word and Sacrament in our denomination. He will begin seminary studies this fall at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas.
REFLECTIONS ON THIRTY YEARS OF MINISTRY
Morningside's pastor, Joanna Adams, was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on July 3, 1979. On this day, which marks the thirtieth year of her ordained ministry, Joanna will offer reflections on the lessons and experiences of three decades of distinguished leadership in the Presbyterian Church and in local, national, and international communities. Joanna has written extensively on this topic over the years, contributing articles and chapters to a number of books. This informal conversation with our pastor will take place immediately following worship this morning. Child care is available.
INTERIOR DESIGN SALE
MPC member Doug Self, owner of J. Douglas Atlanta, an interior design showroom at Atlanta's Merchandise Mart, has made available a collection of his showroom accessories for purchase by MPC members and the community. Our interior design sale will be held this Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Items available include: lamps, mirrors, wall hangings, occasional tables, and small accent items. Proceeds will benefit MPC's Time of Promise Campaign.
