THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Years ago Albert Schweitzer, in a scholarly book about the identity of Jesus Christ concluded with what has become a classic statement of Christian discipleship:
He comes to us as One unknown, without a name, as of old, by the lakeside, he came to those men who knew him not. He speaks to us the same word: "Follow thou me!" and sets us to the tasks which he has to fulfill for our time. He commands. And to those who obey him, whether they be wise or simple, he will reveal himself in the toils, the conflicts, the sufferings which they shall pass through in his fellowship, and, as an ineffable mystery, they shall learn in their own experience who he is. ~From Quest for the Historical Jesus
PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR HIRED
After a thorough process of reviewing applications and multiple interviews, the Preschool Director Search Committee is pleased to announce that we voted unanimously to offer the position to Sarah Tomaka. Sarah's 12 years of teaching experience, leadership on the Presbytery Earth Covenant Ministry and as a deacon and elder here at MPC, along with her in-depth involvement with MPP itself since first being on the steering committee, brought us to the decision that she was the one to lead us into the next exciting chapter of our preschool. We look forward to welcoming Sarah to her new position on August 10!
YOUNG ADULTS VOLUNTEER
This Saturday, July 18, we will volunteer at the Atlanta Food Bank from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, then head to lunch at George's Restaurant in Virginia Highlands. For more information, contact Anna Garcia at garcia.miguel@ocmcast.net.
