THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK...
"One day a young boy came into the house after a game of hide-and-seek, with tears streaming down his face. His father took the child into his arms and asked what was wrong. The child tearfully explained that he and the other children had been playing hide-and-seek and that he had hidden himself, but no one had come seeking him. The father kissed his small son lovingly and said, "My child, now you know how God feels. For God is hidden in our midst and waits patiently for us to begin the search."
Wednesday Evening, September 23...Morningside's new small group study of the Gospel of Matthew will begin tonight at 7 p.m. For more information, contact MPC member Link Marx at linkmarx@yahoo.com.
Saturday Evening, September 26...Morningside will prepare and serve a meal for the men at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. For more information, contact Tony Fishpaw at tony@firstfidelityatl.com.
Sunday, September 27...All are welcome at the picnic at the playground after worship. Bring a dish to share. Beverages and paper products provided. For more information, contact Tia Bartis at tialbartis@yahoo.com.
As we celebrate with Joanna her retirement from parish ministry, we are provided with an excellent opportunity to think about MPC's exciting future. Join us for the first of two Transition Team Listening Sessions today in Room 201 following the worship service.
Fall is a great time to catch up on giving!
Remember, it's easy to arrange with your bank to make automatic payments in check form that they will mail directly to Morningside Presbyterian Church on your designated dates. Just have them write "MPC Pledge" on the memo line.
Sharing Our Space...As many of you know, Morningside rents out its space to the community, and there is a new organization you will be seeing around on Sunday afternoons. We welcome Harmony: Atlanta's International Youth Chorus. Harmony, directed by Joyce Carr, offers 100 youths from diverse racial, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds the opportunity to develop self-discipline, teamwork, tolerance and mutual respect as they strive for choral excellence.
Did You Know...that 2100 employees of Turner Broadcasting volunteered at 19 different non-profit sites in Atlanta on Saturday, September 12? This is one of five events held globally coordinated by MPC member Betsy Holland. The day was a huge success!
