The three and four year olds hear the story of Abram and Sarai's trip into the desert where they find that God is always with them. Elementary classes study a Psalm of praise, leading to the understanding that the Psalms are expressions of feelings to God (Psalm 19). t the Psalms areexpressions of feelings to God (Psalm 19).

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK...
A 6-year-old had just come home from his first day in school and asked his mother, "Where did I come from?" "This is it," thought his mother, but she had read up on how to explain the birds and bees to a child so she went ahead and told the whole story of creating life. Then she awaited his reaction. "I just wondered," the child said. "The boy who sits in front of me at school comes from New Jersey."

Sunday, October 4...We welcome Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Roberts, who is the pastor emeritus of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. Dr. Roberts will join in a dialogue with Joanna Adams about contemporary race relations in the church and beyond at 12:15 p.m. in Room 201. Child care is provided.

The Officer Nominating Committee will begin accepting nominations for both Elders and Deacons on Sunday, October 4. Church Officer Nomination Forms will be in the bulletin. Before nominating someone for the office of Deacon or Elder, please be sure that the person is willing to serve a three-year term. Nomination forms can be given to the church office or placed in the offering plates or the white boxes in the Narthex and Welcome Center. The deadline is October 18.

The Transition Team will begin accepting nominations this Sunday, October 4, for the Pastor Nominating Committee. If you wish to nominate someone, you may do so by filling out the yellow PNC nomination form, which will be found in the bulletin on October 4 and 11. You can give his/her name to a member of the Transition Team or place your nomination in the yellow boxes in the Narthex and Welcome Center. See the October Messenger for names of members of the Transition Team and for a list of qualifications to serve. The Messenger is on line now, and the printed version is being put in the mail today.

As part of World Communion Sunday, MPC will have a special Peacemaking Offering along with more than 4500 Presbyterian Churches to support efforts of the Church to live out a deeper commitment to peacemaking as part of our faithfulness to God. Please consider a gift to this worthy cause.

Join the annual celebration for the good work done at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries on Sunday evening, October 4 at 6 p.m. at Peachtree Presbyterian.  Chris Henry will be the keynote speaker.


Did You Know...
that David and Sheryl Wingert have a new grandson? Erik Scott Wingert was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania on September 24.
