UNDECKING CREW OPPORTUNITY

Please help us un-decorate our Sanctuary this Tuesday, December 29 at 9:30 a.m. Un-decking is faster, requires somewhat less talent than decorating, and you can still serve in this important aspect of Life at Morningside. Please contact Georgia Marshall at 404.909.3477 or gkmarshall@gmail.com.

A NEWSLETTER BREAK

The activities of the Christmas season coupled with Joanna Adams’ retirement have combined into a January pause for the Morningside Messenger.

THEOLOGY ON TAP

Men of Morningside, be sure your calendars are marked for Theology on Tap next Tuesday, January 5 at 7 p.m. We will gather at  the home of Greg Morton (2973 West Roxboro Road, 30324). Topic: "Why Presbyterian?" We will discuss what it means to be Presbyterian in the 21st Century and why it matters. The food will be good and the conversation is sure to be lively, make plans to join us!  RSVP to Chris Henry by next Sunday, January 3.

DAY 1

Joanna Adams is the featured speaker on the January 3 and 10  “Day 1” programs.  The two episodes, which launch the 65th year of weekly broadcasts for “Day 1,” celebrate Adams’ three decades as a pastor, preacher, and church leader. Of her first sermon Dr. Adams says, “Knowing what time it is differentiates the foolish from the wise.” Adams’ second sermon is “God Believes in You.”  The "Day 1" program airs on Atlanta Radio Station WSB 750 AM at 7:05 a.m.  For more information, visit their website at www.day1.org.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE

The Bible Class

Bible Basics: Getting Into Scripture

Next Sunday, January 3, Morningside's Bible Class will begin a new series entitled, "Bible Basics: Getting into Scripture." This four-week series is designed to give new or inexperienced Bible students some of the basic tools needed to more fully understand how to approach the scriptures of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. It will also be a great refresher course for longtime students of the Bible. If your New Year's resolution is to learn more about your faith, this is the place to start!  The Morningside Bible Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am in Room 201 and is taught by Associate Pastor Christopher Henry.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

On each Sunday in December, all of the children’s classes hear the stories of Jesus’ birth.   Today the scripture story for both classes tells about Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the temple to dedicate him to God.  (Luke 2:21-38)
