CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH AND SOUPER BOWL OFFERING
The Double Digits (4th-6th graders) invite you to give $2 for the Souper Bowl offering today as you leave the sanctuary. Our collection will go to Atlanta Community Food Bank. Then proceed to Fellowship Hall for our congregational lunch where you will enjoy a delicious lunch of shrimp and grits, vegetable frittata, green salad and dessert. Mac’n cheese is available for kids, and there is a chicken dish for those who are allergic to shellfish. Suggested donation: adults $10, children $5.
PICK-A-PAN SUNDAY
Take home an empty pan from the narthex today and return it by 10 a.m. this Tuesday, February 9 with the requested food to join us in providing lunch to 45 men attending the Common Ground program at Atlanta AIDS Faith & Health.

If you missed getting your copy of Morningside’s 2009 annual report, copies are still available in the Welcome Center. Please help yourself. Updates from all the ministry teams as well as information about the 2010 budget and the A Time of Promise campaign are included.

Last Sunday, Morningside welcomed Brian Buchanan and Brad Addicks as new members. Brian is a showroom manager at Design Galleria, and Brad is in real estate development. They both joined by reaffirmation of faith.

If you are seeking a way to reach out to those in Haiti facing the devastation of the recent earthquake, you may designate a check to MPC for the good work that the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is doing in the area.

PRESBYTERIAN RALLY DAY HIGHLIGHTS ADVOCACY OPPORTUNITIES
What has 40 days besides the Lenten season? The Georgia legislative session! The Presbytery of Greater Atlanta's annual Rally Day is this Thursday, February 11, and features discussions on the juvenile justice code reform, environmental concerns, health care reform, and much more. MORNINGSIDE COUPLES GROUP
The MPC Couples Group meets throughout the year on the second Friday of each month. The group is very welcoming and inclusive! We invite all Morningside couples and friends to try it out! Our next meeting is February 12 at the Bremers’ home. We will celebrate Valentine's Day by socializing, eating a wonderful meal and sharing a photograph from your early days as a couple. DRUID HILLS NIGHT SHELTER
On Sunday, February 14, Morningside Presbyterian Church’s adult Sunday school class is providing the evening meal for the 30 men who are in residence at the Druid Hills Night Shelter. ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
Please plan to join us for our Ash Wednesday Service, February 17 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. This solemn and sacred worship service marks the beginning of the season of Lent and includes the imposition of ashes. Childcare will be provided in Room 105.

Atlanta playwright Janece Shaffer tells the story of five Atlanta women of diverse backgrounds who take their first-grade girls on an overnight camping trip, and in that one night, say more to each other about race, religion, and responsibility than ever before. This play is a dramatic comedy with a lot of heart. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
The Bible Class—A Journey Through the Word
Next Sunday, February 14, Morningside's Bible Class will continue its series entitled, "A Journey Through the Word." Through the end of April, we will be making our way through the New Testament, studying a different book of the Bible each week. Next week MPC member Jim Martin leads the class on the Gospel of Luke. Come as often as you are able to gain a greater understanding of scripture! The Morningside Bible Class meets each Sunday at 9:45a.m. in Room 201.
CHILDREN’S CLASSES
This morning, the preschool classes hear the story of Jesus and the man who could not walk. The elementary classes continue their study of the Lord’s Prayer, learning that Jesus teaches us to pray for ourselves and for others. The scripture for today’s lesson is Matthew 6:9–15.
