1st Sunday in Lent

ADULT
Morningside's Bible Class will continue its series entitled, "A Journey Through the Word." Associate Pastor Chris Henry will lead a discussion of the Gospel of John. The class meets in Room 201.
Morningside's Faith
Development Class begins today in Room 107. The focus of this class will be personal and communal spiritual growth. Everyone is invited to come for the entire class or sections of the class. Conveners are Katie Davis and Amy DeBaets.
CHILDREN
This morning, our preschool classes hear the story of Jesus calming the storm that had frightened his disciples, and learn that Jesus takes care of us, even when it is stormy outside (Luke 8:22-25). The school-age classes begin a four week study of the ways in which we praise God through prayers, hymns, listening to messages and scripture from the Bible, celebrate the sacraments, and give offerings to our church and to others (Matthew 15:29-31)

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16
Pancakes and Pajamas...
Kids are invited to wear their pajamas and all can come out to enjoy pancakes for dinner this evening from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
Threads outreach needs your help. Donate to Threads by bringing to the pancake supper donations of new pajamas, underwear and socks for children in need who go to the Threads outreach for their clothing. For more information, contact Gail Kitchens at gailkitchens@gmail.com.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE...
Please join us tomorrow evening for our Ash Wednesday Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. This solemn and sacred worship service marks the beginning of the season of Lent and includes the imposition of ashes. Childcare will be provided in Room 105.
Morningside continues to support the food pantry of Intown Collaborative Ministries. We invite you to bring a canned food item to the Ash Wednesday service and following services for the next two Sundays to support their food pantry. They appreciate our continued support during these hard economic times.

Recent new members and those considering membership are invited to a lunch with Rev. Chris Henry today from 12:15 to 2 p.m. in Room 107 to discuss what it means to be Presbyterian and what it means to follow the way of Jesus in the world today. RSVP as soon as possible to Tim Gargis at tgargis@gmail.com, so lunch and childcare arrangements can be made for you.

Our guest speaker will be Katrell Christie, owner of Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party and international volunteer. Katrell will talk about her lovely tea shop and her efforts to support the community both here in Atlanta and in India. To RSVP, please email betsy.holland@turner.com.

that Richard Brownlee and Daisy Ottmann have mailboxes at the church to receive mail for the church archives, the monthly Messenger, and the website? The mailboxes are located in the workroom directly behind the office administrator's office.
