MORNING WORSHIP DURING LENT

Lent, a season of forty days, is traditionally a time of preparation for Easter. During these five Sundays we will sing the Kyrie Eleison (Lord, have mercy). It is one of the oldest prayers of the Christian church. Psalms will be used for the Call to Worship. Note how the psalmist uses repetition and metaphor to gather the people to worship.

LAY LITURGIST

In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside maintains a Lay Liturgy Team. Our lay reader this morning is Link Marx.

NEW MEMBER SUNDAY-MARCH 7

If you have been thinking about joining Morningside on our next New Member Sunday, plan on coming to the Inquirers' Class next Sunday, March 7 at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room. The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Please be in touch with Chris Henry at christopher.andrew.henry@gmail.com or 404.876.7396 to let him know of your interest.

ADULT MISSION TRIP

Only 3 spaces left ….. Last chance to sign up for the Spring Mission Trip to our nation's capital, Washington DC, March 23-28. Please contact Brad Odom at 404.386.3478 or Tony Fishpaw at 404.597.5485 as soon as possible, if you would like to attend.

THEOLOGY ON TAP

Men of Morningside, be sure your calendars are marked for Theology on Tap this Tuesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. We will gather at  the home of Alan Bremer (785 Cumberland Road, 30306). Topic: "After Haiti: Theological Responses to Disaster." In light of the recent earthquake in Haiti, we will consider again the age old question, "Where is God in the midst of tragedy?" The food will be good and the conversation lively, make plans to be there!  RSVP to Chris Henry by Monday, March 1.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

Members, friends, neighbors, and visitors are invited to attend the Morningside Women's Bible Study this Thursday, March 4, 9:15 – 10:30 a.m. On the first Thursday of March, April, and May, Chris Henry will lead a series entitled, "The Beloved Community: Snapshots of the Church in Acts." Our first gathering will focus on Acts 2:14-47 and Acts 4:23-37.  Come to Room 201 at 9 a.m. for coffee and pastries before the study begins.

MPC FACEBOOK GROUP

All are invited to join Morningside's new group on Facebook, now with well over 115 members! As a member, you can contribute to the discussion board, post pictures and videos of church events, and communicate with other Morningsiders on Facebook.

LYDIA’S CIRCLE

Lydia’s Circle will meet Thursday, March 11th from 7-9 p.m. at the home of Amy DeBaets, 18 Fairpark Lane, Decatur, 30030.  Chris Henry will be our special guest.  Please RSVP to taraparrish@bellsouth.net.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE

The Bible Class - A Journey Through the Word

Next Sunday, March 7, Morningside's Bible Class will continue its series entitled, "A Journey Through the Word." MPC member Jim Martin will lead a discussion of Paul's Letter to the Romans, the next in our book-by-book study of the New Testament. The Morningside Bible Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am in Room 201.

Faith Development Class

You are invited to join conveners Katie Davis and Amy DeBaets in a new class on Faith Development. The focus of this class is personal and communal spiritual growth. The class meets in the Church Parlor (Rm 107) at 9:45 a.m. through May. You are invited to come for the entire class or sections of the class. Contact Katie Davis at 770.923.0002 or katie2006@bellsouth.net for more information.

Children’s Classes

This morning, the preschoolers learn the story of 10 men with leprosy who asked Jesus for help. Jesus healed them, and only one thought to say, “Thank you.” (Luke 17:11-19). The school-age classes continue a study of the ways in which we praise God through prayers, hymns, listen to messages and scripture from the Bible, celebrate the sacraments, and give offerings to our church and others (Luke 15: 11-32).
