MORNING WORSHIP DURING LENT
Lent, a season of forty days, is traditionally a time of preparation for Easter. During these five Sundays we will sing the Kyrie Eleison (Lord, have mercy). It is one of the oldest prayers of the Christian church. Psalms will be used for the Call to Worship. Note how the psalmist uses repetition and metaphor to gather the people to worship.
PICK-A-PAN SUNDAY
Take home an empty pan from the narthex today and return it by 10 a.m. this Tuesday, March 9 with the requested food to join us in providing lunch to 45 men attending the Common Ground program at Atlanta AIDS Faith & Health.
SUNDAY FORUM: PRESBYTERIANS IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE
One hallmark of our Presbyterian/Reformed tradition is an emphasis on engagement with the important issues facing the wider community. To this end, next Sunday after worship, Morningside's Advocacy Committee will host a Sunday Forum entitled, "There is Only One Kingdom: Presbyterians in the Public Square." Chris Henry will reflect on the importance of faith in our communal discourse and how Christians are called to be "in the world." This timely and important conversation is part of our ongoing series of Sunday Forums at Morningside, which take place from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. This forum will be held in the Fellowship Hall, so bring your plate and cup and join us!
LYDIA’S CIRCLE
Lydia’s Circle will meet this Thursday, March 11th from 7-9 p.m. at the home of Amy DeBaets, 18 Fairpark Lane, Decatur, 30030. Chris Henry will be our special guest. Please RSVP to taraparrish@bellsouth.net.
COUPLES GROUP
The Couples Group will meet Friday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at D.B.A. for informal conversation and scrumptious Bar-B-Q! We especially hope couples who haven't been able to join prior get-togethers can come out. Let us know (Kathy & Alan Bremer, 404.872.3001 kdbremer@bellsouth.net) if you can be there. We look forward to seeing you! The Couples Group meets monthly on second Fridays at 7 p.m. Pat & Jim Antenucci's will host our April event.
YOUNG ADULTS
The Young Adults are invited to a casual, laid-back and fun evening of group games (Catchphrase or Pictionary anyone?) and heavy appetizers at the home of Brooke and Michael Lampe (2221 Plantation Drive, East Point, 30344, 706.224.7295) on Saturday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. The Lampes will supply the games, drinks, and some refreshments. Please bring an appetizer to share with the group.
