MORNING WORSHIP DURING LENT
Lent, a season of forty days, is traditionally a time of preparation for Easter. During these five Sundays we will sing the Kyrie Eleison (Lord, have mercy). Psalm 130 is one of seven penitential Psalms often called De Profundis, Latin for the opening words, “Out of the depths…” The Call to Worship today uses the last verses of the psalm. Note the repetition of the metaphor of a sentinel waiting for dawn which was always needed in a place of threat or danger when one’s life was at stake.
SUNDAY FORUM: PRESBYTERIANS IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE
Today after worship Morningside's Advocacy Committee will host a Sunday Forum entitled, "There is Only One Kingdom: Presbyterians in the Public Square." Chris Henry will reflect on the importance of faith in our communal discourse and how Christians are called to be "in the world." This timely and important conversation is part of our ongoing series of Sunday Forums at Morningside, which take place from 12:15 to 1:15pm. This forum will be held in the Fellowship Hall, so bring your plate and cup and join us!
HUNGER WALK
MPC member Leslie Prince and Double Digits member Taylor Morton will walk in today’s Hunger Walk to benefit Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. It is not too late to donate to their team.
