ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
This Easter Sunday, please consider joining with Presbyterian churches from around the world to share in One Great Hour of Sharing--a special offering that benefits many missions around the world. OGHS benefits the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance initiatives including critical work in Haiti and the Gulf Coast. Also, a little closer to home, Clifton recently received assistance from your contributions to OGHS. Read more about it in your bulletin insert and use the envelope provided to support this offering today.
WASHINGTON D.C. MISSION TRIP
Those who went on the spring mission trip to Washington, D.C. will be hosting Fellowship Hour next Sunday, April 11. We hope you will come to see pictures from their experience.
THEOLOGY ON TAP
Men of Morningside, be sure your calendars are marked for Theology on Tap this Tuesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. We will gather at the home of Jay Myers (949 Plymouth Road NE, 30306). Topic: "Christianity and the Crash." We'll discuss the relationship between Christian theology and economics. The food will be good and the conversation is sure to be lively, make plans to be there! RSVP to Chris Henry today.
PASTOR ON CALL
From Wednesday, April 7 to Sunday, April 11, Chris Henry will be on vacation and visiting his new nephew in North Carolina. If there is a pastoral emergency, Rev. Mary Miller Brueggemann is pastor on call. Mary can be reached at 404.327.9159 or by calling the church office.
TAI CHI
Tai Chi classes resume this Wednesday, April 7, 7-8 p.m. for eight weeks. Bob Wells and Doris Williams will lead the classes. For additional information or to sign up, contact Barbara Ray, 404-876-7892, barbray@mindspring.com.
LYDIA’S CIRCLE
Lydia’s Circle will not meet Thursday, April 8 due to Spring Break. We will gather again Thursday, May 13 at a location to be announced.
COUPLES GROUP
The Couples Group will meet at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 9 at the home of Pat and Jim Antenucci (5420 Trentham Court, Dunwoody, 30338, 770.559.1044) for a Spring Fling evening of food and fun! Fifteen couples, including several first-time participants, joined the March BBQ get-together. For more information or to RSVP, contact Kathy and Alan Bremer at kdbremer@bellsouth.net.
HABITAT BUILD STARTS SATURDAY
We break ground for our 2010 Habitat for Humanity build this Saturday, April 10 and continue every Saturday through May 22. It's a great way to serve the community and get to know fellow Morningsiders. You may even learn a skill for your next home project. Visit the Habitat bulletin board for more information, and to sign up for build days or as a lunch provider. Special build days include Dad’s Build May 1 and Young Adults May 8. Several slots are still available for this Saturday. Contact Lynsley Tyler (lynsley@bellsouth.net) for more information or see Chip Edgerton, our build captain.
DRUID HILLS NIGHT SHELTER
Next Sunday, April 11, Morningside Presbyterian church’s "family" is providing the evening meal for the 30 men who are in residence at the Druid Hills Night Shelter. If you would like to help with this important ministry, please contact Julie Green at jgree09@emory.edu.
UMBRELLAS FOR RAINY DAYS
Morningside church sponsors a meal for the 30 gentlemen residing at the Druid Hills Night Shelter through May. While we welcome showers after so many years of drought, those summer thunderstorms can be real misery if you’re homeless. There is nothing more difficult than being caught in the rain with no place to go and no protection. What can you do? Donate umbrellas and ponchos. We would like to provide each man with an emergency pack to include a new pair of socks, general toiletries, and the much needed rain-gear, especially small, collapsible umbrellas and heavy-duty ponchos. Look for the Druid Hills Rainy-Day Donation Box in the Welcome Center.
MPP’S 9TH ANNUAL SPRING FLING
Bring your little pirates and mermaids to the annual Spring Fling family festival on Saturday, April 17 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be games for all ages, pony rides, a petting zoo, a toddler play area, an obstacle course, a pirate ship, face painting and a train. We are looking for volunteers to do 1 1/2 hour shifts throughout the day. If you can volunteer, please email Melisa Prevost moprevost1051@yahoo.com.
We’re also seeking participants to sell their wares that day at the “Morningside Made” booth. Contact Daisy Ottmann, 404.812.9725 for more information.
NEW MEMBER SUNDAY
If you have been thinking about joining Morningside on our next New Member Sunday, plan on coming to the Inquirers' Class, April 18 at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room. The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Please be in touch with Chris Henry at christopher.andrew.henry@gmail.com or 404.876.7396 to let him know of your interest.
