WELCOME REVEREND CATHERINE TAYLOR
This Sunday, we welcome as our guest preacher the Reverend Dr. Catherine Taylor, who will begin in May as the Senior Pastor of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church in Blacksburg, VA. Rev. Taylor has served two congregations in Atlanta and most recently was Interim Pastor at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Ithaca, NY. She has been a frequent preacher and speaker at national and regional conferences and on Day 1, the national radio program. She is also the sister of MPC member Julie Green and the daughter of member Julia Taylor. Rev. Taylor is a beloved pastor and a distinguished preacher, and we are grateful to welcome her to Morningside this Sunday.
CHANCEL CHOIR
After providing Morningside with inspiring and festive music during Lent, Palm Sunday, and Easter Sunday, the Chancel Choir is taking a well-deserved “day of rest.” We welcome Jason Hardy as our guest soloist today. Jason is a graduate of Emory University and Peabody Conservatory. He has performed leading roles with New York City Opera, Opera de Montreal, Cleveland Opera, Atlanta Opera, and many others.
WASHINGTON D.C. MISSION TRIP
Those who went on the spring mission trip to Washington, D.C. will be hosting Fellowship Hour today after worship. We hope you will come to see pictures from their experience.

HABITAT BUILD UNDERWAY
We broke ground for our 2010 Habitat for Humanity build yesterday and work continues every Saturday through May 22. It's a great way to serve the community and get to know fellow Morningsiders. You may even learn a skill for your next home project. Visit the Habitat bulletin board for more information, and to sign up for build days or as a lunch provider. Special build days include Dad’s Build May 1 and Young Adults May 8. Several slots are still available for next Saturday, April 18. Contact Lynsley Tyler (lynsley@bellsouth.net) for more information or see Chip Edgerton, our build captain.
MPP’S 9TH ANNUAL SPRING FLING
Bring your little pirates and mermaids to the annual Spring Fling family festival next Saturday, April 17 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be games for all ages, pony rides, a petting zoo, a toddler play area, an obstacle course, a pirate ship, face painting and a train. We are looking for volunteers to do 1 1/2 hour shifts throughout the day. If you can volunteer, please email Melisa Prevost moprevost1051@yahoo.com.
FAMILY GATHERING APRIL 24

WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE
Mark your calendars for the next Women’s Roundtable on Monday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. More information to follow.
UMBRELLAS FOR RAINY DAYS
Morningside church sponsors a meal for the 30 gentlemen residing at the Druid Hills Night Shelter through May. While we welcome showers after so many years of drought, those summer thunderstorms can be real misery if you’re homeless. There is nothing more difficult than being caught in the rain with no place to go and no protection. What can you do? Donate umbrellas and ponchos. We would like to provide each man with an emergency pack to include a new pair of socks, general toiletries, and the much needed rain-gear, especially small, collapsible umbrellas and heavy-duty ponchos. Look for the Druid Hills Rainy-Day Donation Box in the Welcome Center.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
VBS registration and volunteer forms are now available. All kids 4 years old through 5th grade are welcome to join the travels ‘Around the World in 5 Days’ June 21-25, 8:45 a.m.-12 noon. Contact Program Director Melinda Sandkam with any questions.
SYMPATHY TO:
Curt Barrett on the death of his father, Robert Barrett, on April 1.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
The Bible Class - A Journey Through the Word
Next week, the Bible Class will continue its series entitled, "A Journey Through the Word." MPC member Jim Martin will lead a discussion of the Letter to the Colossians, the next in our book-by-book study of the New Testament. This class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201.
Faith Development
You are invited to join conveners Katie Davis and Amy DeBaets in the Church Parlor at 9:45 a.m. for a class focusing on personal and communal spiritual growth. This week’s topic is "Life Together - Being the Church."
Children’s Classes
The children’s classes hear stories about Jesus that follow his resurrection. The three year olds and preschoolers hear the story of Jesus’ promise to his friends that even though he was leaving them, he’d always love and care for them. School age classes learn of travelers to Emmaus who talked with Jesus but did not recognize him until he sat with them and blessed bread and gave it to them.
