Rev. Christopher Henry preaching

"Does Theology Matter?"

Texts: Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Romans 10:14-17

THIS MORNING'S CALL TO WORSHIP

The Call to Worship this morning is selected verses of Isaiah 52. You will note that Paul quotes from Isaiah in the Romans text which will be read today. Isaiah's poem (often used in Advent) speaks of the coming of the Messiah. Even the feet of the messenger are wonderful for a people in exile because the message is about the "good news" (gospel) promised to Abraham and to his heirs. In baptism we are made "heirs of the promise."

CALVIN COURT

Our annual collection of goods for the Presbyterian Senior Community of Calvin Court continues through today. Thank you for your generous support.

NEW MEMBER SUNDAY - NEXT WEEK

If you have thought about joining Morningside Church, next Sunday is a great time to do it! Plan to come to the Inquirers' Class next Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room (Room 103). The Session will meet immediately afterward to receive new members. Contact Chris Henry at christopher.andrew.henry@gmail.com or 404.876.7396 to let him know of your interest.

LUNCH & LEARN

Next Sunday, after worship, Rev. Chris Henry will lead a discussion during lunch on what it means to be a Presbyterian and how to get involved at MPC. New members and visitors are welcome at this lunch 12:15-1:30 in Room 107. RSVP to Deacon Betsy Holland at betsy.holland@turner.com by this Tuesday, June 1 so that lunch and childcare arrangements can be made.

MEN'S RETREAT

Feeling suffocated by city life? Tired of the smog, construction, and traffic? Our third annual Men of Morningside "Saturday Escape to Suches" on June 12 may be just the cure for what ails you! We will meet in the church parking lot that morning, spend the day relaxing with one another in the mountains, enjoy a delicious dinner, and return to Atlanta in the evening.
