* THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon us: a spirit of wisdom and
understanding.
People: Strengthen us with your gifts of wisdom and understanding, Holy
Spirit.
Leader: The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon us: a spirit of knowledge and courage.
People: Strengthen us with your gifts of knowledge and courage, Holy
Spirit.

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy and Merciful God, we come in humility confessing who and what we are.
We give you the places of our hearts that have been choked by the cares of the
world. We give you our tiredness, our sin, our struggles with apathy. Have mercy
on us, O God. Transform our timid lives by the power of your Spirit. Fill us with desire
to be your faithful people through Christ our Lord. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures;

when faint and desolate. His might thy heart shall strengthen, His love thy joy increase, mercy thy
